Bauxite refineries are classified as either low temperature (~ 150°C) for processing predominantly THA gibbsite bauxite or high temperature (> 240°C) for bauxite with > 6% boehmite or diaspore MHA. Boehmite requires > 240°C for digestion. Diaspore requires the highest temperatures of all, 260–280°C.
